At what stage do you need a solicitor?

Posted 22.11.21

Most people will say that you need a solicitor when you have had an offer accepted on a property you would like to buy.  This is correct, but you can actually take this a step further and put yourself in a much better position than other buyers also looking to make an offer!

Put yourself in a better position

Our advice would be to find a solicitor at the point you decide that you are going to find a property to buy and start your search.  Finding a solicitor at this stage allows you to obtain several quotes, at your own pace, and gives you the time to read the fine details of their quote before you instruct them.  This also allows you to read up about those solicitors and make sure they will meet your expectations.

Show the agent you are serious

It is a great sign to any estate agent when you confidently say you have your solicitor details to hand and a mortgage broker at the ready. Most agents will see this as a serious buyer who wants to buy a property.
